Jerry Hall... Yes

I know blondes have more fun and If I was blonde I'd be the Jerry Hall kind. Her locks are her trademark and I would give up my favorite lipstick for that wave. Don't get me wrong being a love being a brunette but something about Jerry's hair makes be want to get a bucket of bleach and a crimper. I truly love her style and taste in men. Jerry is one my favorites model icons and her dedication to being sexy siren for decades is inspirational.

Ms. Hall has a autobiography coming out soon. That should be a scandalous read. Can't wait.

Here we go.....

Ciao Summer. It's been real.

Summer has drifted away with my tan. We don't mess around with summer here at Rica. Tis the season for sexy summer love and tiny bathing suits. We are a fan of bike rides, wine breaks as we ride our bikes, people watching, catching free fun around the city.  We even took a little trip to Puerto Rico to get away for some inspiration and relaxation. It was much needed. Here are some highlights.

I'm a sucker for sprinklers.

My nephew's first birthday! The cutest baby in this side of town.

True Blood Sundays. We take these nights very seriously. Candles and red wine. check.

My sister's salsa dance show in central park!

Packing my bathing suits. I may have taken too much just for a few days.

Best dish from the trip.  Look at those beans. Seriously.

The inspiring Antonio Lopez

I miss fashion illustrations in magazines. I remember being so excited to see the new covers of Interview Magazine and the Saks Fifth Avenue sketches in the sunday paper. It's a beautiful and dying art form in the industry.

My hero in fashion illustration is Antonio Lopez. He has recently inspired me to take out my watercolors again.

Genius

Antonio Lopez was born in Puerto Rico on February 11th 1943. He and his family migrated to New York when he was seven. At a very young age his talent emerged and was accepted in the prestigious fashion scholarship program at Traphagen School of Fashion. He then went on to study at F.I.T. While studying at F.I.T he began working with Fairchild Publications and a number of other newspaper publications like Women's Wear Daily and the New York Times

In the early 1960's he began working with Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine. He had the very fortunate opportunity to work with my favorite couturier Charles James. That creative relationship lasted for ten years.

Lopez had a glamourous career and a story that inspires me today. He unfortunately died of complications related to AIDS in 1987.  His illustrations are still a staple in the industry and I hope that the new generation coming keep him in the history books.

I want the cover!

So here at Rica we have major dreams and plans for our future. One in particular, of course is to have our swimsuit make the cover of Sports Illustrated. We, just like the models working it for the camera, want that coveted spot.

Wouldn't it be amazing if our Siren suit graced the body of a glamorous bombshell?

Two for the price of one!

So Ava and I were doing some thinking and based on feedback from our loyal blog followers we thought we might split our efforts into two separate types of posts. She will handle the style, fashion, and fabulousness, while I will keep bringing you the historical, scientific and thought-provoking posts. We are going to give it a try so please give us some feedback on how you think it is going! Thanks to everyone for being a part of this.

So here I go. I think this is kinda amazing! An ancient Roman Sicilian Villa had this mosaic painted on its walls. Take a peek!

Prince is Priceless

Prince is a musical genius. He graced us with amazing music and fashion. Prince also introduced us to some amazing beauties over the years. Just recently I didn't realize what an influence he had on my own look. I wear tons of lace, underwear is outerwear, and purple is a color we often use at Rica.

Honestly,  I wanted to be one of Prince's Proteges like Vanity or Apollonia. They really knew how to work the sexual power in there look and energy.

What name would Prince give me if I was one of his ladies?  I vote for Crystal Chandelier.

Here are a few of my favorites Prince ladies.

Apollonia

I couldn't choose on what photo I loved the best. They both full my heart with joy.
